Why an internship?

Do you want to work in Germany? But you don’t yet know what kind of work you want to do later? Then an internship is a good start. An internship helps you work out what you are good at, and which job is right for you.

You learn which skills you need for a career. You can also see what everyday work in a company is like. You don’t usually earn money in an internship. It’s about trying out one of the many different occupations in Germany that require formal training. It helps you choose an occupation and get a job.

Internships make the first contact between businesses and young refugees easier.

What do you need for an internship?

  • Basic knowledge of German

  • Age: at least 14

  • 3-month residence permit and approval from the foreigners’ office

What do you have to do to apply?

Most companies will tell you exactly how to apply. If you don’t understand something or are unsure, simply call the company! Or write an e-mail.
